He knocked and I opened the door. It was that simple.

Actually He’d been knocking all my life; it took doing the Alpha course to show me how to open it.
I originally started doing the Alpha course to understand more about my partner’s beliefs but as the weeks went by, it didn’t take long for it to become about me and eventually letting Jesus into my life.

The meals at the start of each session are a great way to meet and chat with other people, plus the quality of the food was outstanding! The course itself is non-threating yet challenges you to think. The half hour videos are very simple to watch and don’t feel like you’re being preached to. Nicky explains each session in clear, easy to understand terms and doesn’t go into “religious” speak.

Our group guides were patient and understanding and I can’t thank them enough for the help and support they gave me. No question I asked was left unanswered (and I asked a few!!) and no-one was judged or judgmental about where they were on their religious journey. They encouraged discussion and never tried to push or persuade us into anything we weren’t ready for.
The Holy Spirit Saturday is a day that I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. The venue was an ideal location and if you were still undecided then seeing God’s handiwork all around definitely helped. Again there was no pressure but when I asked one of the helpers to pray for me, a feeling came upon me which I can’t fully explain and words would never do justice.

The peace that I felt when the Holy Spirit entered and the immediate calmness He brought to some personal difficulties is something I’ll always remember.

I would thoroughly recommend the Alpha course to anybody who is either unsure or wavering about their beliefs. Who knows, it might just change your life as it has mine.
Since doing Alpha I’ve been a helper, group leader and now get the privilege of running Alpha with my partner (who is now my wife), helping others to open the door as well.
