Northbridge Anglican

Before I retired from Northbridge, we had successfully run a number of Alpha courses, and we also had a good relationship with the local Uniting and Catholic Churches. So when the local Catholic Bishop directed the priests in his diocese to run Alpha courses, the local priest asked for my help. After consulting with the Uniting Church, as well, we decided to run a Combined Churches’ Alpha course.

As it turned out, most of the participants (over 40, if my memory is right) were Catholics, and they enjoyed the course. On the all-day session, where the “Fruit of the Spirit” was shared, an older man came up to me with a question: “Father John, Where does that passage come from?” When I told him it was Galatians 5, he asked :”If I buy a bible from the bookstall, will you mark it for me?” I rejoiced to see the Spirit at work!
