Hillsong Gold Coast Central

This was my first time co-facilitating an Alpha. We have had a core of between six and ten people attending each week. Some are exploring faith and some new Christians looking for how it all works.

We initially planned to run this Alpha for six weeks due to Christmas coming up. But in line with participants’ wishes we extended two more weeks.

Five people made the decision and were baptised and another is planning to when family come up from Sydney next month so he can share his decision and celebrate with them. I tried to wrap up the group but they were so keen to keep meeting and learn/grow that we have decided to continue until we run out of videos at week 16 (two weeks to go). Then we will be meeting once a month over a meal and fun day out.

They are so keen to keep in touch with the group and forge deeper bonds with each other and Jesus. Several members have already started to serve in the church or are discovering ways to do this. I have also organised a member of the church team to come and explain connect/home groups to them and assist them with joining one if they choose to.

I am writing this with literal tears in my eyes at how grateful I am to have been allowed to stretch myself with co-facilitating my first Alpha.

I myself explored a life of faith three years ago when I first walked in the doors at Hillsong Gold Coast and gave my life to Jesus so it feels like a completed full circle for me. There is not enough space here to discuss the many blessings I have received from the Lord and I am compelled to share this with all I meet so they may have this opportunity too.
