My Testimony: How Christ, Church, and Alpha Changed My Life

I’m writing this letter to share my testimony with Christ and how the Lord, His Church, and Alpha have completely transformed my life. I’m now living a new life through Christ, and He has a great plan for me that I will fulfill faithfully according to His will. The Beginning My story began as a young child who grew up with his mother in a small town in northern China. Despite our difficult financial situation, his life was happy because his mom worked so hard to provide for them. He became independent at a very young age, making many of his own decisions. But his feet were always in the air, and there was no place for him to find rest.

Growing up, he had great interests in science, math, physics, the universe, and sports, but he had no interest in faith or belief. In China, you either believe in false Marxism or Buddhism. He was blessed with a sharp mind that got him into great universities. He worked very hard and became the Student Union Chairman of his faculty. From then on, his ego started to grow bigger and bigger. The Struggle with Pride and Relationships he had several relationships, but one of them hurt him deeply. He was insecure and always trying to prove himself, which caused anxiety for his girlfriend. He was so arrogant that he lost his beloved girlfriend twice. Her family also rejected him because of his family background. Since then, he always wanted to prove himself more, and his heart was deeply wounded. His feet were lifted higher and higher in pride. He didn’t seek God but considered himself a god. The first couple of years of work went smoothly. He learned a lot and had a few relationships, but nothing serious. One day, he decided to come to Australia to fulfill a promise he had made to his previous girlfriend. But there was no previous girlfriend anymore. Life in Australia: The Downward Spiral In Australia, He worked hard and soon met a partner in Sydney. They had a brief but sweet period. However, when the company decided to promote him and move him to Melbourne, he was so arrogant and wanted to stay with his partner that he rejected the offer. The company boss was very angry and decided to fire him. He arrogantly resigned instead. He went back to China, sold his property, and returned to Australia as a student to be with his partner.

When COVID came, his money ran out quickly. he had no choice but to work. He was blessed with a part-time job while continuing the university studies. After studying for a year, his partner and he thought it wouldn’t be a good idea to continue learning anymore. So he withdrew from UNSW and worked full-time. He had a good period of peace, but his insecurity took over. He became easily angry, had low energy, and was aggressive. Even like this, he was still blessed with good work performance. His position went up and up, and his arrogance went up too. Eventually, his uncertainty grew out of control, and his health became poor. But he didn’t repent and refused to apologise. He arrogantly changed jobs. At this new job, He was blessed with good performance and offered a No. 1 leadership position. He rejected it again. His arrogance and fear controlled him completely. He resigned again. His partner had enough of him, and after a while, he became a man with nothing in human terms.

The Transformation Begins Through all these experiences, his feelings of being unsafe, needing to prove himself, and his arrogance had become: “Why do they betray me? Why do they reject me? Why not me?” This time, he finally repented. But first, he tried yoga, the Great Compassion mantra, and past life meditation. They all asked him to surrender, but no one told him to whom. They all asked him to move on, but no one healed him. Finally, he decided to try Jesus Christ by asking a friend who had saved him twice: “Do you normally attend Sunday service?”

She took him to church. Finding Christ and His Church He wasn’t a Christian, nor did he respect God before. But God always gave him a soft heart and didn’t close the door for him to repent. On March 30, 2025, he visited the church. During the worship songs, he started learning from his friends how to sing and raise his hands. After two songs, he felt the difference. His heart was getting warm. He knew this was different. The first preaching was about how God has won the battle, and he realised he didn’t need to prove himself anymore. God had already done it for him. He was so touched. The second service was on April 6, 2025. He brought a good guidebook and didn’t talk to anyone, but he was changing. April 13, 2025, was the most important day of his life—he decided to follow Jesus. He raised his hand, but Pastor Allan didn’t see him.

Just when he thought he was rejected again, the Lord sent Ivanna to talk to him. She saw him. She was so gentle that it made him afraid, but she gave him the courage to accept Christ. On that exact same day, he was wandering around the Botanic Garden, wanting to give up his life. Suddenly, he heard a voice in his mind: “THAT’S ENOUGH! FORGIVE YOURSELF!” He knew it was the Lord Jesus who loved him. That day, he decided to follow Jesus Christ. Alpha Course: Growing in Faith He decided to follow Jesus, but he didn’t know how. As introduced by Rachael (Assistant Pastor), he signed up for the Alpha Course. He had no idea what it was. On April 15th, he joined the first lesson. He was shocked by the love, knowledge, and joy this family provided—something he had never experienced. He started reading the Bible and learning important topics. His faith was growing. At one Saturday, the Alpha family had a special fellowship. Their teachers Keith and Ruth were going to China for their mission. On that day, he opened up about his experience, and he felt the bond of family that he had never experienced before.

That day, his feet were finally on the ground! Thank you, Jesus the Father. Encountering Jesus On Mother’s Day, Renee gave a meaningful sermon. At the end of the preaching, he closed his eyes and saw HIM—Jesus the Lord, wearing a whole white robe, seated on HIS throne. HE gently pointed at him and said, “I SEE YOU.” He started to look at himself. He was wearing a white robe too. The Lord came and gave him a hug that he had wanted from his father since he was one year old. That day, he decided to be baptised. On May 18, 2025, he was baptised by water and became I. Life in the Spirit Every week, we had Alpha Course, and I looked forward to it every day. We shared love, learning, and prayers. I learned how to pray and eventually learned who the Holy Spirit is. HE started to be active in my life.

Every day, I was filled with joy and power. At first, I had no idea what it was. Gradually, I realised it was HIM—the Holy Spirit. HE was so powerful yet warm. By the end of the course, we had Alpha Day, which was one of the most memorable days of my life. Our family gathered at one of the members’ houses, and we learned, ate, and prayed together. That day, I wept and cried like ocean waves breaking. That day, my burden was lifted. That day, I was gifted with praying in tongues. My New Life Through Christ, I am reborn. Through HIS Church, I have found home. Through Alpha, my relationship with God has begun. I pray that I surrender every part of my flesh and every part of my soul to Jesus Christ. May HIS Holy Spirit be with me and breathe in me. May HE proceed with HIS plan through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
